    Limitations
    Influence of the delay line, the optical fiber loop
    There are some limitations on the performances of an OEO. First of all, because of the structure based on a delay line, there is a problem in the choice of the fiber loop length. A long fiber is necessary in order to have a very low phase noise, but the consequence is to decrease the FSR of the oscillator leading to very close spectral lines, which are difficult to eliminate with the RF filter.
    Environmental Temperature Change
    The change in ambient temperature affects the refractive index of the long fiber in the Opto-Electronic Oscillators system, which in turn changes the length of the entire optical ring cavity. On the other hand, it also affects the center wavelength of the optical filter and the center frequency of the RF filter.
